Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease results in the destruction of the tissue that supports the teeth and is caused by bacteria. It is not painful. It often goes undetected by the patient until the teeth loosen, gums bleed easily and the gum tissues swell due to pus created by the bacteria. When this happens teeth are often lost and have to be replaced with bridges or dentures. In our office we perform a thorough periodontal exam and will develop the appropriate treatment plan for each individual patient to prevent periodontal damage from occuring. We teach the latest homecare procedures to help maintain a high level of periodontal health. Periodontal health requires your participation- it helps save teeth and has a positive effect on your general health. Our patients can smile with confidence!
TOPAS Testing
TOPAS uses micro-technology to detect and quantify harmful toxins in the periodontal pocket. Nearly 2,000 possible anaerobic microbes can be involved in the infection of a periodontal pocket. As a growing body of evidence strongly supports a link between periodontal disease and systemic illnesses, the TOPAS test has become an integral tool for both patient education and the diagnosis of periodontal disease.
